Janel Hoffman CPNP

As a nurse practitioner, I find great joy in providing high quality health care to the pediatric population.  I believe in open communication between the parents and the patient in order to create the best individualized plan of care for the entire family.  I understand that the parent is the expert on his/her child, and I will listen to concerns and achievements with patience and understanding.  I am thrilled to witness your child grow with a focus on family centered health care.

I was born and raised in the Detroit suburbs and moved to the Chicagoland area after obtaining my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, from the University of Michigan, followed by my Master of Science and Nursing from Rush University in 2009.

I worked as a nurse practitioner in the Division of General Pediatric Surgery, at  Lurie Children's Hospital for 7 years, specializing in the surgical care and treatment of children with a variety of congenital and acquired conditions including wound care, gastrostomy tubes, ostomies and bowel management.

I am board certified through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board,  and also a member of the American Society of Surgical Nurses and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.

During my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 young children, cheering on our favorite NCAA football and basketball teams. I enjoy soaking up as much outdoor time as possible and participating in community events.

My special interests include patient advocacy, long term management of congenital diseases and newborn care.
